Shoppers are asking themselves this question as they navigate this season’s frenzy of discount deals. Retailers always roll out sales this time of year, but some shoppers are reporting that the price cuts seem deeper than in summers past. Shockingly, even unsettlingly so.
With many Americans sequestered at home and events like weddings and birthday parties cancelled, “feel good” discretionary shopping is declining, said Dana Telsey, an equity research analyst covering the retail industry, and labels are relying on online sales to stay afloat.
