- Sara Lee Corp. CEO Brenda Barnes said she was recovering from a stroke she suffered “a few weeks ago,” and the company will provide an update on her plans by Aug. 12.

John Baumgartner, an analyst at Telsey Advisory Group in New York, said, “It’s still not clear if she will return or when. “I have been telling investors that Marcel is well-equipped for the job, whether it’s temporary or permanent,” Baumgartner said.
